What a fun place is Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Having been to Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida and having been impressed with their facilities, I was most excited about visiting Busch Gardens in Williamsburg Virginia.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is terrific but VERY hilly. If you do not have your own electric scooter, I recommend you rent one of theirs. The Busch Gardens electric scooters are large with lots of power and can take all the hills. Use their scooters especially if you have limited mobility as the park is large and hilly and walking can be hard and tiring. If you are in a wheelchair and can use an electric scooter, rent one. I believe they rent for about $35.00 for the day. Money well spent

Just a hint: The scooter rental is inside the main gates which is down a long hill, I suggest you send someone from your party to rent the scooter and drive it up the hill to you, otherwise the first hill can be a real killer. The handicapped parking is very close to the front gate and is well marked.

Be prepared that this is a very busy place with lots of crowds, which of course makes it lots of fun as well. I found the washrooms to be very busy with long lines; so don’t wait until the last moment..

When you need something to eat, try not to go at the busiest times, 45 minutes before or after lunch hour is the best. Bring your own bottled water. Also, expect lines to get into attractions, rides, and restaurants.

So, now you know what to expect, you can just enjoy. One of the first things I did was take the rail train around the park, it give you a good over view of the park. It is totally accessible. Go to the back of the train where you can get on. This train has stops at all the themed areas along the way. Another hint is instead of starting your touring around at the first themed area go way across the park and work backwards, less people that way.

Guest Relations
Guest Relations is located at the right side of the front gate admission area. Guests with disabilities should feel welcome to stop at Guest Relations for any assistance they require.

Parking
Parking is provided directly in front of the main entrance for guests with a legal parking permit.

Wheelchair Rental
Wheelchairs and Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECV’s) may be rented at Stroller Rental in Banbury Cross. This shop is located near the front gate of the park. It is just past the turnstile area and is the second gift shop on the right. Wheelchairs and ECV’s are rented on a “first-come, first served” basis to guests with disabilities. Reservations for wheelchairs or ECV’s are not accepted. Guests may also use their own wheelchairs or single passenger ECV’s. Guests using wheelchairs may join any admissions line to enter the park.

Restrooms
Companion restroom facilities are located at the Main Entrance/Exit and First Aid.

First Aid
Busch Garden’s First Aid station is located between Jack Hanna’s Wild Reserve and Aquitaine France. Registered nurses and emergency medical technicians staff this office. Cast members throughout the park will be happy to call for assistance upon request.

Service Animals
Trained service animals are welcome at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. A Service Animal “Relief Area” is located in the Jack Hanna’s Wild Reserve.

Ride Information for Physically Challenged Guests
At Busch Gardens Williamsburg, safety is the only consideration that takes precedence over fun! Thrill rides by their very nature create forces and speeds that may not be acceptable to some persons, and may cause injury to some riders with pre-existing conditions.

In general, all riders must be in good health. Those who have had recent surgery, expectant mothers, those with high blood pressure, heart conditions, neck or back problems, and those with any impairment or condition that would prevent normal seating or use of safety restraints as provided, should not board.

Each rider must be able to remain sitting up straight, keeping their head erect, their back and shoulders against the seat back, and their hands arms, legs and feet down and inside the ride at all times. Each ride has its own restriction sign at the ride entrance.

Visually Impaired Guests must have someone (a companion or park cast member) read the ride restrictions to them before boarding.



As I found Busch Gardens in Tampa handicapped friendly, I too found Busch Gardens Williamsburg to be handicapped friendly. They have tried and succeed to make every member of your group have a fun and positive experience. Don’t hesitate to ask any of the cast members for help assistance and direction along the way. They are there for the guests.

I know myself; I get tired quite quickly and have to consider that when I am going to an attraction like this. I suggest you do Busch Gardens Williamsburg over 2 or 3 days so your entire group gets to enjoy all areas of the park.

Whatever you are doing have fun, smile and laugh a lot and just enjoy yourself.
